COVID-19 Community Testing Sites

We strongly encourage you to sign up for an appointment using the registration link listed with each location. Signing up ahead of time helps avoid long lines and makes social distancing easier. People who walk in without an appointment might have to come back later or on another day.

DO NOT PAY YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY OR THE TESTING PROVIDER FOR YOUR COVID TEST—THERE IS NO COST TO YOU FOR THE TEST. All costs for this test are covered by your insurance company or the federal or state government. Insurance companies may send you an Explanation of Benefits or “EOB” showing the difference between the billed cost of this COVID test and what they have paid. It may even say that a portion is “patient responsibility.” This is simply for your information. It is NOT a bill, and you do not need to pay anything. The testing company, Vault, accepts what your insurance pays as full payment.

No-Barrier Testing

Minnesota has worked hard to provide no-barrier access to COVID-19 testing at all Minnesota Department of Health community testing sites. Testing is available to anyone who believes they need a COVID-19 test, with or without insurance. Participants will be asked for their health insurance information so the state can bill their insurance company on their behalf. If a person is uninsured or for any reason insurance does not cover some or all of the cost, the state will cover the difference so testing remains available at no cost to everyone.

What does no-barrier access mean?

• You do not need to show identification.

• Tests are at no cost to you, and insurance is not required (but please bring your insurance card if you have one).

• Appointments are recommended, but you may walk in.

Is it safe to get a test in-person?

Minnesota understands the importance of safe testing facilities. Each community testing site is in a large space that allows for maximizing space, ventilation and distancing. You are encouraged to make an appointment to prevent crowding and long lines.

What if I am disabled or need assistance?

To request an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation or other accessibility needs for testing, please call (800) 800-5698 or email accessibility@vaulthealth.com for assistance. Please make requests 2-3 business days before the testing event to ensure time to coordinate accommodations.

People will enter the DECC parking lot through the east gate closest to the William A Irvin Museum Ship. They may park in the ramp, or make use of the DECC’s surface parking. They will enter the DECC facility through Door A, and proceed down a hallway to enter South Pioneer Hall.

● Drive to Terminal 1 and into the entry plaza for the parking ramps. Signs will guide you from the inbound roadway to the clinic location itself.

● Follow signage to Level 2 in the Blue Ramp.

● Walk to the centrally located elevator lobby and follow signs to the clinic.

Free parking is available on the roof of the RiverCentre ramp. If that is full, metered parking is available in Rice Park.

Entrances:

• Skyway from the RiverCentre Parking Ramp, follow signs. The testing location is about a 5-minute walk.

• Doors by the main RiverCentre sign at 175 W Kellogg Blvd, follow signs. Testing location is about a 3-minute walk.

• Rice Park entrance on Washington Street near Herb Brooks statue, follow signs. Testing location is about a 2-minute walk.

The testing location is ADA accessible. There are ramps and changes to the floor grade. People with mobility challenges may find the Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park locations easier to navigate.
